NASA at Summit Point
Some pics from Sundays NASA race at Summit Point. I was up there to look at Spec Miata's
Scot Burners sole S2000 in the Stinger group.
All the pics here.

The race groups in NASA seem very aggressive with lots of bumping.
I am interested in Spec Miata, NASA only had about 8 cars and put them in the Honda Challenge group.
SCCA gets something like 30 Spec Miata's so thats where I will likely go.

Thats a good question.
I spectate/support guys in both.
As far as the specifics of the classing I think NASA is a bit 'looser' - it's a smaller and younger organization. Lots of strange and bizarre and cool cars and they try to fit you in somewhere.
It's probably a good bit cheaper and less competitive from a cash standpoint.
Any drivers here w/ exp in both?

Nice to meet you George......
H1 is pretty tight.... the top 4-5 usually qualify really close..... I get out drag-raced by almost all H1 cars ..... i make it up in braking and handling....
We had a lot of bumping early in the season in H1 but for the last 2-3 weekends there has been no real contact for any H1 guys..... 1 H1 guy folded in a Miata mirror with his car and also a SER mirror....but there was no damage in those.... it doesn't make the Miata guys happy the way we divebomb them into turns, but the other choice is to lose tons of ground and fall in behind them.... blaaaa....
There was a saturn that supposedly bumped with a one honda then drove into the side of a crx and caused some decent damage to both cars.....the saturn apparently did about 4 spins before resting at the tirewall.
Thanks for the pics of el-ghetto S2000....!!

o ya.... i think with SCCA you only get on track 2-3 times per weekend with only 1 race..... the race is longer but i would rather have the 2 shorter races.
Nasa always has practice, qualifying and a 25 (roughly) minute race for both Saturday and Sunday..... so if you F' up on Sat you can still race again and not have a completely wasted weekend.
I would agree that SCCA has the more advanced drivers.... i don't know what the SCCA Spec Miata lap records are, but they are probably quicker than the NASA lap records.
There really isn't anywhere for the S2000 in NASA other than T2 or SPU which are both kind of odd.... SPU doesn't have many cars and the S2000 isn't competetive in T2 (except at lime rock).
