Need advice for streets of willow
I've only run it once, CW...and I usually do Autocross. Listen to the guys above...they know what they're doing.
From a beginner's standpoint, the most important thing is to learning the racing line and staying in control of your car. Don't try to drive at 10/10ths...take it easy, lots of people get flatbedded outta there. Listen intently to all the instructions. If you spin, don't try to automatically get back on the track...that could be worse.
My autox training helped me ALOT with car control and the racing line. Streets is kind of a big huge AutoX course, just faster. My advice is to try to get some AutoX practice in before then. If you can't get in some practice beforehand, try to get some in afterwards. It'll help you with the fundamentals of racing. Streets will always be there, you can come back.
Also, watch the videos (they're really, really helpful) - make sure you're watching a CW run...watch the racing line, try to see where you should be on the track in each section. I wouldn't worry too much about what gear to be in, that'll come naturally. Ride with instructors anytime you can. Follow a more experienced car out there, that'll also help you learn the line.
Most importantly, take care of yourself. Becoming fatigued means you're not on your game, and small mistakes turn into big problems. Take enough water, gatorade, snacks, sunscreen and make sure to take breaks.
Most of all, relax and have fun! The bowl is FUN!

If it's your first time at a race track, your tires and equipment won't matter a whole lot. You may have problems with brakes overheating. A flush and fill with ATE or another high-temp brake fluid will take care of that.
Make sure you perform a thorough flush and bleed of your braking system. Maybe switch to the ATE brake fluid.
Have fun, wish I was going
