Default Need Help on Susp. Setup

I am looking to spend about $1500-$2000 suspension upgrade for the ITR. I am going to use this for road race and autox. Any comments or advices would be appreciated. Hopefully some of you S owners owned and modded its little brother. Thanks.

Sorry, but this is the S2000 board.

You're welcome to hang around the board and chat, but if you want help with an ITR, you're going to have to go to an ITR board.

I was just hoping some of u know about the R. can't really get any helpful info on the r boards. There was a superhonda board but it is now gone and not sure why. The rest are just more like boy racers who just wanna look fast. Oh well.

For autocross, just get shocks and tires and run in D stock. That's where you will be most competetive. I've been told that the Type R is really nice in stock form and there's really no need to mess with it.

But $1000-2000 sounds like the price range for a shocks/springs/swaybars suspension package from Ground Control. I'm sure that they can give you better advice on tuning the suspension of a Type R than I can (I used to own a GS-R, but sold it before doing anything to the suspension -- that's the extent of my qualifications).

I have the Ground Control shocks and springs (i.e. Advance Dynamics) on my s2000. They make good stuff and their support is excellent - and the shocks and springs made a big difference. They do make struts for Honda's.

I also have a matched set of swaybars from Comptech.

are you still going to drive your car on the street?

advance design does make a high quality product. I have a set for the s2000 but never used them since i found a better (read: more expensive) alternative.

the advice for autox is spot on. you are allowed to change the non-adjustable shocks and front swaybar and still stay in stock class, which will basically be the best class for the ITR.

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, I am still going to drive the car on the street but not on a regular basis. I put 16k miles on the car the first 4 months of its life (cause I wrecked my TT v12 Bimmer). so I am giving it a break.

I ran GS (DS now) last 1 1/2 seasons with 3 different clubs and I think I've reached the limit (mine ofcourse). Seems like i am at a plateau where I cant go any faster. I don't care to be in DS anymore, just wanted to improve the car and run faster. Since I am going to lowered the car, i will not be in DS anymore.

for a dual purpose street/track car, and if you do not care that you will be placed in a prepared class in autox, a three way adjustable coilover setup is your best bet.

i have jrz's on my s and can get them for a very good price. they are nearly double your budget in cost, so that is a limitation right there. i can email you an exact quote and pictures of them on my car if you think you can go that route, just email or pm me and let me know.
