Need Input From Anyone Who Has Drag Raced Their S
First off, I don't want any bs about it not being a drag car or flames of that nature.
Secondly, my car has 10k with a Nuespeed exhaust and a K&N air filter. That's it as far as "performance mods" go. The tires are SO3's on 17" wheels and have approximately 1500 miles on them. Hopefully, that should answer any questions about the car that arise from my question to follow.
Yesterday, at the local drag strip, I had one hell of a time coming anywhere near the 1/4 mile times that have been published in several different car mags. I didn't have any problem with traction at all, quite the contrary. It hooked up instantly and very hard. However, no matter what RPM I left at, it bogged something fierce. If my seatbelt wasn't on, my head would've probably hit the windshield. I hit every shift at 8900 RPM (god bless modifry's audible shift indicator) and didn't bark any gears. The temperature was about 62 degrees and humidity was practically non-existent. I don't want to write what time I did turn, but suffice it to say, it was way *@%#'n off. Any experience/thoughts you could share would be appreciated. Thanks guys/girls.
P.S. Regardless of the times it did turn, by way of killer reaction times and creative braking, I didn't lose a round yesterday. My fun was cut short by an unexpected cloudburst. So, for the time being the S is undefeated! Woo Hoo!

That Neuspeed exhaust is a POS, go back to stock, or even better, something lightweight and better flowing.
How much heavier is your wheel & tire combination than stock? Tire pressures?
What RPM were you launching at? 60 foot times? I've run my stock S2000 to a 14.1 @99mph with 2.25 60 foot times in less favorable conditions. With a better 60 foot, sub 14's is possible.
Shift when reds lights on tach blink, no sooner. You should be able to bark the tires on the 1-2 shift. Unless you were granny shifting instead of double-clutching like you should...

1. You want help, or do you want people to make you feel good about yourself?
2. When someone who knows a shitload more than you asks you a question in order to help you, don't go telling him it doesn't matter. Unless you really don't want help.
3. Sounds like you need practice launching.
4. I think I'm glad you didn't get the joke. Makes you seem not quite as big an ass.
Anybody else out there with a worse attitude?

Umm, okay, did you already figure your altitude correction? You DO know that magazine racing takes place at sea level (or below, lucky dogs)? Makes a big difference.
Are you dropping rear tire pressure and increasing fronts? Maybe that's too much grip, and as stated above, no way do you want to hook. Bogs every time.
Note also the top racers are willing to break stuff so... power shifting is worth a tenth or more (never lift your throttle foot).
Jzr's 2.2 60' is an awesome time. I only get 2.1's and a rare 2.0x with a Z06 vette on street tires.
