I'm using a 2" wide , about 8' long, nylon carrying strap that I bought at Lowe's. It has velcro and wraps around the seat at chest level. It works very well. It works even better when you do track events.

For track days I use a locking clip designed for baby seats to keep the stock lap belt tight.

I use a Simpson belt attached to the stock seat belt mounts. Works fine. I just leave it behind the seat driving to and from work.

I just put 3 or 4 twists in the seat belt and plug it in tight.

for you guys using the lap belts what hardware did you use to mount the belts. i see they have eye bolts or mounting plates. i would like to use the stock mounts without drilling.

Jack, you may have the no-brainer easy solution. I really just want something to keep me snug at the track and at autocrosses so that I don't have to use my arms and legs to keep me in the seat. Is velcro all that secures the strap around your chest? Does it work? For $10, it might be a lot easier than buying new seats, a harness, and rollbar...
