Default Need a rollbar for a driving school

I need a rollbar; but I don't want to go banzai with my interior and start tearing things out and not being able to fit things back in in order to install one.

Which one is the simplest in terms of installation? I'm trying NOT to go with Cusco, as they don't do much from what I can see.

thanks

Does the rollbar have to be compliant to any racing/safety regulations for the school or any other track events you might want to take? Our local club basically requires a SCCA style Solo 1 rollbar, which rules out almost all the JDM rollbars. You should check the requirements before buying something.

If you require a Solo 1 compliant bolt in roll bar there is the Elda/GoFast one, but I believe it's out of production. Would have to look for a used one. I thought Hard Dog (which makes Miata and BMW) rollbars was working on one for the S2000, but couldn't find any mention of it on their web site. Maybe if you email them.

Other than that, it's custom fabrication. You can check the with SpeedStar in Toronto or CThree. They both got their race cars fully caged, and the fabricator did a really good job. I got my rollbar made buy a local fabricator in Ottawa, but that was one of the stripped interior builds.

You are confused in your motivations.

Do you want the roll bar in order to meet the requirements of the driving school, or do you want it because you want to improve the safety?

If the former, what do you care whether it "does much"? If the latter, then I think you need to rethink your emphisis on minimal cost and impact on the car's interior.

It would be nice if there were a simple solution that addressed everything you are looking for -- but there isn't.
Bent DOM tubing doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I'm more than willing to pay 4 to 5 bills IF I know I'm getting what suits me.

I don't think I"m confused at all; surely there's got to be sometihng out there that doesn't need you to rip everything out to install the darn bar AND keep your interior intact.

I can't be asking for THAT much; since I'm certain I'm not the first one requiring such a rollbar

Thanks

It's for the BMW trillium club schools at Mosport (and hopefully Tremblant next year); so I suppose I need a soloI bar.

I'll see if I can bump into either of them tomorrow down at the Indy and pick their brains on who to go to.

I don't think you're going to get anything for $500, try doubling or tripling that. There just isn't enough S2000's out there make a stable market for any manufacturer.

Mindboggling.

O'Brien quoted me a 7 point cage in my old corolla and it was just under 1500

1500 for a ROLL BAR?

No, you aren't. IMO, however, it is not possible to install an uncompromised roll bar without taking out most of the rear interior of the car, including the softtop.

As an example, consider that roll bar from Harddog. Notice that the harness bar is way too high. Notice that it gives up a lot of strength because the rear stays come in partway up rather than right up at the top. Notice that the diagonal doesn't actually diagonalize the whole bar structure. Etc.
