Default Need some autoXers Help

This winter i plan on putting a roll bar in my s2k with a hard top, and i run my car in A.S. I want to take the soft top out but will that be ok for autoX? I know they say that you can't remover anything to make the car lighter but with the hard top and roll bar instaled it should be about the same. Does anyone know if that would be ok for AS or would i be challanged cause i know that a roll bar is ok for AS. Any help would be awesome, and thanks guys!!!

It would definitely not be A-Stock legal. If you left the soft top in, it would be fine.

Yeah, the "X mod should balance out Y mod so it should be okay" thing doesn't work in stock classes.

I'm not sure it would be fine. I know you can a roll bar as long as it's non-structural, but I don't think the addition of a hardtop is covered under Stock classing, is it?

removing the soft top will definitely get you thrown out of AS. There is another thing to be careful about when it comes to roll bars. I think removing interior pieces of your car also get you thrown out of stock class. So if you install a roll bar you have to trim the plastic pieces to fit around the installed roll bar and put them back in to be completely legal. At the local level I doubt anyone would challenge you on it, but at nationals someone would probably call you on it if you beat them.

I installed a roll bar with the intention of staying in AS but soon realized that to make the broomstick rule for track driving I'd have to get aftermarket seats which would throw me out anyway so I gave up on trimming the plastic interior pieces and just left them out. Personally, I think it looks bad ass like that

You can add a roll bar if it meets the SCCA safety guidelines, and you can make interior modifications only to the extent necessary to install the roll bar.

You can add the factory hard top. It was a factory option.

You can't remove the soft top.

That's hard to believe seeing that the CR comes with an OEM hardtop.

I think it's still available. Hardtopguy says on his web site that he stopped carrying them because it was too much of a pain in the butt to get them ordered.
