Default New road course. 15 minutes from my house. Cool.

Here is a picture of the recently constructed and paved road course at Englishtown New Jersey's famous Raceway Park. I don't care if it looks tight or unconvetional, at least we finally have a road course in our state. Can anyone say "S2000 track days at Englishtown". Sounds good to me.

It's kinda dangerous that some parts of the course are so close to one another. Maybe they'll put up some walls in between.

Yeah... that little horseshoe at the bottom right looks like it could be downright nasty, but I think I'm gonna be hangin' out in Jersey more often (or Tom's coming down to run the point less often)!

Gregg, I think I know who is going to be the contact for the track. Perry, from www.autox4u.com, lives in the area and from what i hear he may be taking a job at the racetrack. He will most likely be our contact.

I agree with the concerns about lack of run off area. But like I said, it's close to my house.

Meat - I hear ya. I'm sure we'll be talking. ( Hmmmmmm.... S2KA sponsored Metro NYC track days @ Raceway Park 2002 )

And let me say that if I drove fast from NJ to Maryland it was out of neccessity. Hear's how I see it: I could not see out of the right side of my car, due to the fact that I had 3 Khumo's on my passenger seat, so the faster I drove the less time overall was spent on the road. Thus faster driving meant that I had less time on the road = safe.

That can't be done yet. Sometimes you'll be driving directly toward upcoming traffic. Even with lots of safety enhancements, I doubt we'll ever see an SCCA event there.

here is some more info from http://www.etownraceway.com

RACEWAY PARK ROAD COURSE
Raceway Park is happy to announce that we are in the process of building a ROAD COURSE. This track will be separate from all other tracks at Raceway Park. The course measures 1.35 miles with 40 foot wide roads over the entire course, except for the 1,400 foot straightaway that is 50 feet wide. There are some great features to this track such as, one 90 degree right turn, a 16 degree banked left turn and a mini corkscrew, which the road dips down and turns left as it drops.
This is a Technical Course. There are approximately 13 turns. Some could be considered 2 turns.
The entire course will have lights. Be prepared for the sound level to be on the quiet side. The actual db # has not yet been determined.

Tentative opening should be in the Spring of 2002, if everything goes as planned.

Information regarding times, prices, etc. will be posted here as soon as it becomes available.
