Those guys have been working on that for a long time, and several times have announced that they are ready to go, only to have something unexpected pop up. I would be leery of spending a lot of money just to be a beta test subject, but if you think that would be fun, go for it.

I'm not buying one. I already have a fast race car. but its a cool concept and looks like it should be a riot to drive.

Yeah, it's just that I think the gap between a prototype and what people usually expect as a sorted-out product is pretty vast. As somebody who essentially built your own prototype, you probably have a better sense than most people about how much work it can be to keep it running when you might find a new issue every time you take it out.

Agreed. I saw this on Jalopnik. I would pick one up if I knew I could run it on the track with a bunch of other guys in similar setups. Cheap to run. Fast as hell. Fun as hell.

It's not for everyone cuz you can't drive them to/from the track but that certainly doesn't matter to you.

250CC Super Kart is a lot less money and higher performance in every way.
1.18 is the best time at Big Willow with Ron White driving.

A spec moto 125 Shifter kart will do a 1.17 at SOW with the hair pin that the cars don't run included. So the kart is doing about a 1.14. and could go a lot faster but they are drag limited with no body work or aero holding the top speed down to 100mph. The Super Karts can do 175mph.

Wow. Impressive karts. I just spent an hour looking up some resources to research it. Seems like it might be a bit tough to find guys to race with. Amazing little machines, though. Looks like a hoot!

I bet that you could do more laps in a day with something like a DP4 than you could any kart. The fastest karts might turn faster laps (not a given!), but for how long? You run out of tire, gas, and physical strength much quicker in a kart.
