Most clubs will not let you run HPDE with an open wheel car.

Yes, and there are more tracks/clubs out there that allow S's to track without an additional rollbar.

Running on track with open wheeled formula cars is a bit disconcerting, sometimes. It's hard to see them in your mirrors, and picking up their point-bys can be tricky. But it's certainly not impossible.
