Default is this normal?

i just got my pads replaced with carbotech xp10/8 and flushed/bled the brake fluid with motul rbf600. there is almost no brake feel in what seems like the first half inch of travel on the brake pedal before it starts to bite. is this normal? i have already bed them in, but the brakes don't feel quite as responsive. will it firm up after a couple laps at the track tomorrow? i've already gone back to my mechanic to bleed the brakes again thinking there might have been some air caught in the lines, but he said there was nothing wrong after the rebleed.

Have you engaged ABS since bleeding? Do a search for an explanation, but I had a similar problem with my first bleed and this cured it.
