If you're on Hankooks, you compete against Hankooks and similar. Fair Race.

If you're on NT01s, you compete against Hoosiers and are completely outmatched.

You don't think that's an important consideration when choosing between the two?

Not to derail this thread further than it already has been...

This guy is not competing he is learning, asking for advice.

He is asking if NT01's are worth the extra cost compared to RS3's on a non trailer queen car.

I think we've all answered that with a "no, stick with RS3s" because we all know you should have a good amount of seat time on street tires so you don't let the Rcomps mask bad habits which can happen if you go right into super sticky tires.

You can give a noob A6's and a jacket winning champion all seasons, wheres your bet going

Thanks for the input guys. General consensus is to stick with the Hankooks so that's what I'm going to do. It's just too bad they are on such a long back order. I have mostly done test and tunes and haven't really competed this season. Not that my driving is bad, but it could use some polishing. I just want to make sure the car is well equipped and I'm not wasting money on one thing when it could go to something more important.

I'd go with the NT01. The RS3 heat cycle out, the NT01 does not. Some of my fastest laps have been on NT01s literally just before they corded.

NT01s dont' generate enough grip to tear the upper A-arm mount. As noted in this thread, the grip isn't much better than the current UHP street tires.

I like the stiff sidewall of the NT01, espsecially for the s2000. The stiff sidewall transmits more useful information than the UHP streets.

And I thought I was the only one! This has been my experience as well. 2 of my sets of Nt01's this season, I happened to set my best lap times just as they were about to chord. Very consistent tire, great feedback. I prefer them over the current Gen street tires. Only problem with these is street driving. You cannot expect them to last if you daily drive with them. Also, they suck if you are being classed based on treadwear.

I hear the NT01s will give you a couple more laps before getting greasy too (I dont think thats relevant to auto-x). Thats what I hate about street tires, 1.5-2 hard laps and thats it til the next session.

It's nearly impossible to get NT01s greasy with an NA s2000.
