Default NT01s vs VictoRacers

I trying to decide between those two tires. Tires will be used strictly for road racing, no auto-x. I had my mind set on the NT01s, but I spoke with my buddy today who used VictoRacers for a long time, than he switched to RA1s and he's going back to VictoRacers. He does not like the RA1s (which is a similar tire to NT01, correct me if I'm wrong) as much as the VictoRacers. Basically I want your opinions. I just do not want to be disappointed with my purchase.
Thanks for your help

Why did he switch back to Victos? What was wrong with the RA-1?

I now use NT01 after wearing out a set of victos. I've had 4-5 sets of NT01s since the victos.

He's saying that RA1s are not as grippy as the VictoRacers; RA1 last longer but don't grip as well

Victoracers are faster than RA1's, but are much softer. I wore a set out on an evo to the cords in one day once (with two drivers)

I suspect the NT01's or R888's are equal to or faster than the Victoracer though. The new construction of the NT01/R888 is a bit faster than the RA1's.
