Are OEM brakes enough?
I've heard that the OEM brake system is fine for track use with the proper pads/fluid.
I'm sure the brakes are very capable, but I was able to burn up all my rotors and pads on a two day event at Watkins glenn (well my brakes were pretty much toast after the first day and I only did one session on the second day to confirm their status). I was running OEM pads and figured that I would burn through the pads, but I wasn't expecting to "heat damage the all four rotors" (they were all toast according to the dealership).
Is it enough to just change the pads/fluid to save my rotors? I was pretty dissapointed with my braking performance @ the glenn last time and want to make sure I have more than enough braking capabilities next time.
I don't mind putting the money down on a BBK if that is what it will take to actually get a system that will stand up to hard track abuse, but I would rather spend the money on other things if its really no upgrade.
I"m looking for answers from people who track their car frequently, not just some novice fun. What do you true track junkies do? Do you fabricate your own working brake ducts, install a BBK, or just change the pads? I know changing the pads is 90% of the battle, but is that enough for real hard track time?

Hey Mr. Trump,
The stock brakes are very capable on the race track if...
you change the pads and fluid.
The stock pads are designed to work at normal temps with low dust.
A track pad is designed to work at high temps and usually makes lots of dust.
as for your rotors.
I would replace them because if you resurface them its going to take material away and make them harder to keep cooler....
I OVER brake like a bandit and have not lost brakes at all (except when I took the pads to the rivets).
Soooo With all that said change the pads and fluid and put a new set of stock rotors on.
I use Cobalt pads, ATP SuperBlue fluid, and Centric premium rotors.

I got brand new stock rotors on now, and was planning on using Motul 600 + Hawk HP pads. I don't want to destroy my rotors again... that would be 2 new sets and the car has under 7k miles on it
If the stocks won't handle the heat, I don't mind getting a new set that will, just a question of what will.I've tried the search, but each time people ask it seems like people never get past giving advice for the novice track guy w/ the "replacing the pads/fluid is good enough for most"... I want to know what to do when you fall outside of the norm for brake stresses.
Thanks for the feedback sofar. other track opinions are still very welcome.

* What kind of tires are you running?
* Do you have forced induction?
* Any other pertinent modifications (ie do you run with lead in the trunk
Don't laugh, crash does this
)IMO, braking hard means ABS in every braking zone and smoking rotors when you get off the track.
