Default OHLINS?

I'm thinking about buying a set of Ohlins coilovers for street and occasional track use. Anyone have experience with them, specifically: ride stiffness on the street, track performance, adjustibility, service, reliability? What's the word?

I only know one person who ever ran them on an S2K and that was cthree. I dont kow if he still has them or is going to something better in his rebuild...I suspect the latter. Unless something has changed, the Ohlins S2K application doesn't have enough travel in the rear due to the lack of an external reservoir.

I have Ohlins and they are very excellent but lack travel in the rear and are only single adjustable. If you don't plan to slam your ride and don't want to dick with too many settings they are about the best you can get. The softest setting is very comfortable on the street and the stiffest setting is good for a dry track.

You know 2 people. I had them and like them, but I sold mine after 2 events because I got my JRZ sponsorship.

Turtle (Brian) on the UK forum also had Ohlins, I believe. Brian is very knowledgable on all matters technical. However, Brian doesn't check his PMs very often as he has sold his S2000.

i have the JDM ohlins with swift springs... 12kg and 10kg rear, i love it though i havent really found the right settings yet for autox. im still in tuning process but then not lately since i've been driving other cars. but all in all i love them for the fact that they are rebuildable.... but it's hard to get mine rebuilt here because they said the sweeden ohlins internals are different from the japanese ones. (what i heard from local ohlins service center) they gonna have to order parts.

as for adjustability, its single adjustment for rebound and compression... and it has 24 clicks total. i found that each click, the difference is noticeable. thats why im having hard time fine tuning it for my autox setup.

BTW, where are you getting yours? brand new? coz i heard since last year, that Ohlins in sweeden discontinued the only s2k kit because they are going back to their japanese division to develop a new one for the s2k.

interesting... in the ohlins' site it says all their S2K shocks are made in Japan but designed in Sweden... too bad there is not enough user feedback to compare it against other set ups...
