Open face helmets
Depends on the club.
Some only require a SA95 or later.
Some require closed face helmets in open cars.
Some require eye protection in open cars.
So you probably be okay with some nascar style goggles and your SA open helmet.

I just got a new closed helmet and no one told me how to clean the faceshield:

you can certainly run with one. but its a personal preference for me to run with a closed face helmet: not only in case the helmet becomes of use, but also for flying debris that hits me in the face under the visor if its even open. I can't imagine getting hit with track debris in an open faced helmet in this car.
It is not a bike.. the car has a windshield.. and if you stay on the track you don't see any flying debris.
I and others with eye glasses prefer the open face models and I don't know of any issues with them. I have been happy with mine for years.

With the wheels turned while in a turn, debris, rocks, and tire marbles will most certainly find their way into the cabin. If a pebble hits you in the tooth or eye at 70 mph (I've been hit in the cheek in my Integra on track), you're gonna wish you had a full-face. This is especially the case if you run R compound tires. They fly right off your own front wheel. Plus, the debris flies off the rear wheels of the guy in front of you with the R compounds on. They grab debris like fly-paper and then fling 'em at high speed. My recommendation: full face.
