pads and rotors
I do a little racing, just a few days a year and i've been on stock pads and rotors for years without any issues. This year i mounted up Potenza RE-11s and had some brake issues, time to move up to some better rotors and pads.
What do all of you reccomend? i'm not looking for anything super crazy, just something that will hold up on the track and some road rally type of stuff.
Let me know if you need any other information, thanks All and happy new year.

Did some research in the FAQ, yes very helpful.
Had a few questions so i'll ask them here instead of bumping the sticky since there aren't a lot of new responces there.
looks like Carbotechs will do well for me in reading the threads. i called and they reccomend XP10 for the front and XP8 for the rear. what do you guys think?
I also asked about rotors and the guy at Carbotech said i'll be fine on OEM. the issues i mentioned in my thread above are actually related to what I think are my rear rotors (car shakes when braking hard but not through the steering wheel). Carbo thinks i may have left some oem residue on them after a session.
I'm on RE11s
What do you guys think of the rotor options?
Stay on oem rotors or go with centric?
Still drive the car a few thousand miles per year so i don't want something squeeky or with bad road manners (take long time to warm up etc.)
thanks all

Carbotech xp10 front xp8 rear will be all you need. Ive ran them on the street, track days, time attack, and endurance racing (yes they squeek and dust their track pads ). without the noise and dust, you just cant get the same performance.
Run Factory rotors, If your rotors vibrate get them turned if there still in spec.
If you crack a rotor, either run brake ducts or remove your factory dust shields, and stop riding the brakes- hard on and quick off.

I had been doing brake research for a little while my self and I wanted something that could stand up to track temps and still be ok for autox. It seemed like people have had problems with the carbotech's back plate or just the pad wearing out very quick on track. So with my research I decided to go with Cobalt xr2 front and resurface my stock front rotors since they were still within specs (more than 23mm), also adding motul 600 brake fluid. The back plate is supposed to be much stronger on the cobalt pads and all the other reviews ive read are people going from carbotech's to cobalt's and they were happy switching to cobalt's.

i went with raybestos st43 .. the pad is thicker and lasts longer.. not cheap but doesnt fade
i just ordered 4 front centrics blanks for $105 shipped ... cant beat that and all rotors will crack anyway
need front brake ducts soon

Cobalt xr2/xr5 combo here...on whatever rotors I have at the time. I was running through centric rotors at the rate of 1 every 3 weekends this year.
When I was running Hawk DTC60s up front, I only got 1.5 weekends out of the pads.
I'm stocked up on OEM blanks that have been turned within spec for this season (7 spares). I need to add ducts because I know damn well I'm not riding the brakes lol.
