That lap felt pretty good - in reviewing, I felt I made 3 small mistakes:
*Never got in to the apex in 4, could have turned in a little harder sooner and gotten on gas earlier.
*Had to correct exiting 5b, cost speed on straightaway following
*Bobbled a bit in 9
That lap was a :55.3 on street tires, and I think there was definitely a mid-to-high :54 out there.

At most OTC tracks I was 1-2 seconds behind Erik Messley (though he was using the lighter wheels ) - at Pahrump was within a couple tenths of his best (:55.1). After turning the lap in the video I hopped out and did the :45's in Dave's car. Probably the best 45 minutes I've ever had on the track, very much "in the zone"...

Thanks guys, and thanks for the critique, jzr. I have not been that fast on R compounds, so it was very cool to see.

Those definitely sounded like street tires... Considering the use, no wonder you guys brought so many sets.

A session was roughly 50-60 miles give or take? I understand length of time on track and which track are factors. I'm just curious how long these tires lasted in a general sense.

Hmmm, I'd say a session is anywhere from 8-14 laps, so ~25-30 miles on average per session, so 350-400 track miles +1200 street miles. Again, this is shaved to 3/32", which is where the wear bars are on most tires. They might've lasted longer with 4-6/32", but I'd be afraid they'd chuck (not to mention their being slower) with any more depth than that.

And boy were they cheap!

Did about 2000 street miles on 'em during OTC week. IMO they're not as nice (quiet, comfortable, or grippy) a tire as the S-02, but they certainly are cheaper. I like 'em better than the Kumho 712, which is what I have on my car right now.

If it means anything, they're the next set of street tires I plan to get (225f/245r) for my car.
