Paint protection at the track
As wierd as this may sound...it works like a charm! Buy a roll of clear, non textured contact paper (shelf paper)at your local Home Depot. It is a medium adhesive plastic material very similar to the white plastic that our cars were shipped with. Apply to a clean front fascia (don't cover your radiator opening!), mirrors, and about a fourth of your hood and you'll have no concerns about stone pitting and rubber marks while on track, or bug damage on long road trips. It looks like you've stretched a condom over the front of your car, but a vinyl bra does not look so good either. After your track day, just peel it off. It will leave a few small traces of adhesive which will come off with mild solvent or Mequires cleaner/wax.
I've found highway driving does far more damage than track driving.
On the track if you just give those cars ahead of you a large margin you won't have any problems. Big trucks on the highway though, they can throw a stone 100 yards.
