Default Pillow Ball Mount

all pillow ball mounts i've seen are all adjuatable camber plates in the front and which would not work for our cars.

i got a jdm ohlins shocks that uses the stock top hat, i want to change it to a pillow ball.

anyone?

What advantage does a pillow ball mount give?

Pillow ball or spherical bearings give more direct control over the shock shaft because there is no deflection of rubber in the upper mount. Rubber has hysteresis and hysteresis in a suspension typically will reduce mechanical grip.

If someone PM's you with a source, please let me know, as I might be in the market for spherical bearing top hats for my Penskes come this fall.

a "pillow ball" aka in ENGLISH a "spherical bearing" is just going to make the response from the shock and spring more direct since it replaces the rubber bushing that flexes. its a good thing actually. but yeah, im not entirely sure id want to get rid of that compliance completely for comfort sake.

ITR's have special top hat bushings that are considerably stiffer than normal because half of the material is metal. they fit in our stock mounts.

tein's spherical bearing (pillow ball) mounts will work too.

I had pillow balls with my JIC shocks, they were clunky.

thanks guys!

i will look into the ITR one. i did check all the aftermarket ones like teins, cusco, hks.... they all make it for the rear which is kinda universal but their fronts are all camber plates, which would not work for our double wishbone... hmm im tempted to try the rears for the fronts but we'll see.

mike, haha i will post soon once i take pics of it installed. or i might not install it until i get my mew swifts coz rigth now it has the 5kg and 6kg springs which is kinda stock rate, i will see after i test and tune.

it will be a little clunky but you can fine tune it... suspension is tricky. you have to make sure that you adjust the length of the shock itself through the body adjustment for the length of your suspension travel, then adjust your height/preload on the spring adjustment, then corner balance the car

the front shock top mount is the same in the rear. they should be identical.

theyre the same as the older civics/integras for that matter. except the s2000 has a different kind of bushing. its not as stiff as the ITR, but its definately unique.
