Pilot Sport Cups
Search isn't working. Would this be a good tire for occasional street and some hard track use on an '05 S2000 with stock rims?
The sizes that look to be closest are the: 225/45/17 and 245/40/17.
Pros? Cons?

I tried them a few years ago. They were a very slippery tire when cold, and needed several laps to get warm (much longer than RA1's or Victoracers, for example), so I would be very nervous on them on the street (never up to temp). While the rubber lasts on the track, they heat cycle out more easily than RA1's. I don't know if they changed compound since.

similar to toyo ra1, but cost more.
I bought a used set. They looked like they had almost no wear on them but must have had some heat cycles because they were awful. They had about as much grip as a street tire and I corded them in like two days (due in part to uneven wear characteristics). I give them a big

I've driven them extensively and don't care for them at all. They feel like a street tire so the easiest way to find peak lat-g on them is to let them chatter just like a street tire and back off a little.
I do have a set of PS2 on the Z06 which I highly recommend though! Very good tires.

Thanks for all the great info! I had heard good things about thing on the new Z06 as you can drive them out to the track and they still perform pretty well. Guess that doesn't translate to the S2000!
PSCs were the first R-compound tire I got. The good about them is that they grip well when warm, and last forever. The bad--and, IMO, it's real bad--is that they don't grip at all in the cold or wet. I also thought that they were heat cycled out before they were dead, but I could be wrong about that. They're very expensive.
I now use RA-1s, and find them to be friendlier in our cold Seattle environment. They have more tread (unless you shave them to 4/32), so they're worlds better than the PSC in the rain, and they're softer, so they seem to be better on cold asphalt.
I think that the two are pretty equal on a warm, dry surface, with the PSC probably lasting longer, but costing more. On a cold or wet surface, I think there's no comparison--the RA-1 is much better.
