Default PMU Race Pads, Which ones to Stock?

All, I want to stock Project Mu pads for our Brake Kits. Our Australian customers turned us onto these pads and like every thing we offer we spent months researching these. We are pretty impressed as they seem to be not only the most widely used pads, but typically the championship teams pad of choice in NASCAR, V8 Supercars, Super GT (JGTC), World Rally Car, WTCC & BTCC.

Additionally the are used by the 2 of the most well known S2000s, 999s on the Evasive record Setting Car and Club Racers on Rob Walkers Record Setting Car. Both Momofoolio & RHouck Run 999s as well.

We are buying a few for our shop car and will test them out when then come in to form our own opinions.
We can get these custom made for our Brake Kit in 20mm thickness which is 40-60% thicker than typical pads.
We will be Stocking the HC800s for Daily Drivers and Light AutoX in addition to Track Pads.

Which Track Pad would you buy?
Club Racers at $200 or
999s at $300
Another PMU pad like the 777 or H16

If you don't mind Tell us why?

Thank you and we plan on making a large order in a few weeks.

999 and CR mostly. The rest just aren't up to snuff for serious track use. Useable yes but if you're fast its not worth your time.

That's my take on the matter anyhow. I'll let some other regulars chime in.

The SoCal guys only use the Club Racers and 999s. The preference is for 999s, but they're quite pricey, so many will settle with Club Racers as a cheaper alternative.

My needs are slightly different since i'm running a front BBK and i'm trying to finish up my rear pads. That being said, I'd like to run a CR setup all around F/R.

I'm currently running HC800 front and carbo XP-8 rear. I went less aggressive on the front to balance with the rear, previously running the 10/8 combo with stock fronts (Also ran DTC60 front/xp-8 rear).

Anyway, I don't think this applies to me since I'm on a BBK and I'm sure these pads are being stocked for stock calipers.

I think for some people with more elaborate setups might get more out of the 999 in the long run. I would also look into Endless pads as well. The ME20 is a popular pad for the track and Endless makes a wide variety.

Bullwings, these are to stock for our Brake Kit.

$300 for 999s @ 20mm thickness!! Less than OEM @ 12-14 16.5 mm thick (thanks MMisencik157)

I wish I had your kit... I got your "competitor's" kit - the deal was too good to pass up, even if I had to buy a separate set of track capable pads.

Does anyone have any comparison of these vs Raybestos ST-45 or ST-43?

OEM is 16.5mm total thickness

I havent tried the 999s yet (soon on the to try list) but I agree with others that the club racer offers a great value. I daily drive mine in between track days with no real complaints. It makes some noise during light stops once the transfer layer wears off but that can be resolved pretty easily. Im not sure I would want to daily the 999s though. Sure you could do it, but thats a lot of money to be spending on pads you're wasting on the street. Plus I believe they are VERY rotor aggressive when they are that far below their optimum temperature range.

The BRZ was street driven with 999 on the AP kit on that car. They're beddable to be completely silent.
