Default possible cheap race S2000 on ebay.

the current price is below $9100. It doesn't look like it needs much... sell all of the interior pieces for $1500 or so...

Thumbs up

Yeah, I've been thinking it might make sense at some point to buy a wreck and turn it into a dedicated track car.

When you're looking at a wreck, how do you tell if the frame is bent? Do you get out a tape measure and the Helms manual and start measuring?

If the frame is bent, can it be repaired?

Please forgive the ignorant questions...

An alignment shop can tell you if the frame is bent, but judging from the photos, I'd doubt it. There might be some damage to the front subframe and radiator cross beam, but these are easily replaced. It looks like the fenders were pushed back into the doors, so there might be a need to replace the door hinges as well.

Having just restored one with lots more damage, this car looks like a pretty decent buy. (If only there was more room in my garage... )

just join ebay..... the only way for one of us to find his email address would be to log in then "contact seller" which would send him an email first....then they would have to reply to it for me to see the address...

too much work....just register....

Unfortunately, they haven't bothered to respond.

You could probably sell the seats alone, replace them with comparable, less expensive seats and make out like a bandit. Even if you didn't track it, It looks like someone with a little automotive fixit know how (and plenty of time) could make a pretty good penny on this one.

not sure that you could make any $ on it.... it will always have a "salvage" title.... right now if you shop around you can get good title 2001 S2000's with 30k miles for $17k......

so after you dump $3k into this car to fix it, who would pay more than about $12-$13k for a "salvage" title car?

It would however make for a GREAT track car. you don't even need headlights or airbags for the track!

If it is still running and in good condition as the add says, why would there be a 'salvage' title? I thought that only happened when the insurance company totalled the car. It looks far from totalled, and I've seen some S2000's that are FARRRRR worse than that one that were border line according to the insurance company. It sounded like this guy just didn't want to put the money/ time into fixing it. I'm guessing he didn't want his insurance rates to go up by asking them to fix it as well. Maybe?
