Thumbs up Practiced launching the S for 1st time

I practiced launching the S for the first time tonight. Tried a total of four times and the results were pretty much the same. I rev'd the car up to 6K, dropped the clutch, and mashed the gas. I got no noticeable tire spin or wheel hop. Car rev'd to the redline, came down to about 7K and went back up to redline. 2 out of the 4 times I shifted to 2nd right as the red zone blinked. On the other 2 times, I bounced off the rev limiter a couple of times before shifting to 2nd. So, my questions to you all are these:

1. Am I launching correctly? Did I end up bogging the car down?
2. Should I have experienced some tire spin?
3. After dropping the clutch, did I do the right thing by mashing the gas? Should I have eased into the accelerator?

Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the clutch delay valve doing its job. My 03 doesn't have the delay valve, so if I pop the clutch at 6k, I get wheelspin.

Being that you are not autocrossing in the stock class, you might think about removing the valve. Check the "Under the Hood" forum for the how to.

Ha ha...clutch delay valve has been removed. So, if there is any "problem" it isn't that.

Justin, you're probably not letting the clutch go fast enough... You want wheelspin, otherwise your tranny and diff are taking all that extra, unneeded force.

You want to literally just take your foot off the clutch. Just slide your foot to the left and let the clutch pop; anything other than that will likely result in burnt clutch.

I am pretty sure that is what I did each time..although the results may dictate otherwise. When I pop the clutch ~6K, what am I supposed to do with the gas?

1. Mash it
2. Keep the accelerator in the same position as it was when I rev'd to 6K
3. Gradually apply more gas

That will be dictated by the traction you have available. The more power you can put down, the faster you'll go
