Preparation for John Eagle Texas World Speedway Event
#1
Hi,
I need to prepare for the event in Feb. Please provide some feedback.
1. I need to buy a SA helmet (probably Bell M2 since I wear glasses). Should I buy it from the web or at some local store (Pro-Am or John Eagle Honda)?
2. I was thinking of getting some 245/45/16 kumho V700 for the rears (about $130 each). I figure the R-compound will be better for the track and will save the expensive S02. Is it safe to get only the rears or should I do all four with R-compound?
3. brake pads - I have 2000 miles on the car, should I bring an extra set of stock pads to the track? Some owners have mentioned the pads wear very fast at the track.
4. I already have ATS super blue racing brake fluid (DOT4), do I need to flush the stock system?
5. I have not done an oil change yet, but I constantly top off with regular 10W30 motor oil. The oil is quite dirty. Should I replace the motor oil right before the event. Either case, I plan to bring some oil for top off on that day.
Thanks for any input. I do not plan to really push the car hard since it is very new and I'm not used to rear wheel drive cars. Just want to have a good time...

Thanks for your advice...
I will not be getting the R-compound tires then since it costs too much for all four.
Does that mean we will be running counter in the feb event?
I have stock brake fluid in the car, is that high performance enough?
I think an oil change before the event will be good. Do you know what motor oil the honda dealerships use? I will do the oil change myself. I will not use synthetic yet since the car still consumes oil.

I've used the stock fluid for several TWS events (fresh fluid for each, though) and never had any fade problems during the sessions. I will be going with fresh oid, brake fluid and pads and the increased camber, but no other special changes to the car.
I certainly hope we'll be going clockwise, it's much more fun, but I don't know what they'll be doing.
