Question ~ What are the best shift points
Has anyone determined the optimum rpms to upshift from gear to gear when trying to maximize speed?
I don't want to assume that it's 9K for each gear until checking with the more experienced track/autoX drivers, so if you wouldn't mind sharing some of your knowledge...
Thanx!

Yep, this has been beaten to death. The torque curves in each gear says it all - there's no crossover of torque falling from a lower gear with the rising torque of the next higher gear so shifting early should be only done if other things are more important (settling for a turn, etc.).
As they say, "Rev to the red!"

You're goal is to keep the RPMs above 6k so you stay in VTEC. If you go to this cool gear calculator that The Reverand has on his web site: http://reverendsgarage.net/index.php?conte..._calculator.php, you will find that top speed at 8,900 RPMs in 1st gear is 42.8 and 6,000 RPMs in 2nd gear is 44.2 so you need to go to the max (without hitting the rev limiter) to keep close to the 6k VTEC range. 2nd to 3rd has a little overlap (65.6 in 2nd and 61.1 at 6k in 3rd), and 3rd to 4th has more overlap (90.6 to 77.9), so you can shift at lower RPMs in the higher gears.
Hope this helps.
