Default quick release steering wheel

i'm looking to get a quick release. what's a decent one to get? the NRG looks like a good unit but how does it hold up after extended use.

The ball type QRs stay pretty tight, but they have a big draw back.... If your not the one removing the steering wheel (knock on wood), do you really want a safety worker fumbling around looking for a tiny button to press to unlock the "quick release"?

I went with momo. There is some play in it, but unlike most splined QR it can only be installed one way (like the NRG ones), which takes the guess work out of it.

thanks for the feedback Rob.

it looks like the new version of the NRG QR has levers, so releasing is much easier

what about the Rick's QR?

I have the NRG setup. It's a really inexpensive piece that works great. I haven't had any problems with it and it makes it a lot easier to get out of the car having a bucket seat and everything.

I've never seen that new quick release, but all the other QR's that they have, I have tried (since a lot of friends have other types than what I have). Compared to the Works Bell, I just can't justify the price difference when there isn't a huge difference in quality.

The Momo hubs work great as well. The only problem that I've seen is using a slim quick release and a slim hub will put your steering wheel REALLY close to your wipers and blinkers unless your going to a deep dish steering wheel. I still prefer my Momo hub setup with a NRG quick release. However, my Momo hub did crack, so I went with the NRG short hub, and ended up buying a new deep dish KEY!S wheel

The new on with the handle in the picture you posted above is a pain in the ass to take off. I would stick with the regular 2.0 NRG QR. That's what I got and it's been good to me for about 2 years now.

I'm using the porsche Motorsports qd which uses the oval shaped engagement. No play and easy install/removal.

My buddy showed me this at his shop the other day when I was there. You have to press a button to release the QR, along with pulling the paddle. Seems kinda easy, until you gotta find a way to wrap your hands around the steering wheel to get to it. For my buddy, since his hands are kinda big, its a hassle for him to do it. I understand where he is coming from, as for me since my hands are a bit smaller, I could probably deal with it but I haven't actually tested it on my car yet. It was just shown to me by demonstration. If you like it though, try to find a near by shop that would carry those QR's and try it out for yourself to see which ones you like better.

I hope my explanation helps. haha I tried to explain as well as I could without confusing you or myself

this is what i use:

i wouldn't use any of those nrg/bell types. they totally defeat the purpose of a quick-release cause they aren't quick at all.

this sparco one is SFI approved as well. installation is basic--just goes between the hub and the wheel.
