Race pad suggestions
I've always used the Cobalt race pads, but the MarketPlace is out of stock now. I will need new pads soon. What can people recommend if the MarketPlace doesn't get the Cobalts in soon? I need pads that hold up (preferably both in terms of temperature and longevity), since our track makes significant demands on pads.
I am trying a set of Carbotech XP8s right now. They seem to be working. I used to use Panther+ (XP6) but started overtemping them. I haven't tried them at PR yet, though. They worked fine at Thunderhill, but THill isn't as hard on the brakes as PR.
Look into Porterfiled R4 in a pinch - it's no Cobalt but you can stand on them and pull 1g + consistently without fade. Inital bite is strong. Very rotor friendly hot or cold and wont stain wheels. You'll be happy so long as you don't expect it to last as long as the VRs. From what I can remember, the life span is about 75% of the Cobalts.
I am trying Carbotech XP10 front and XP8 rears next time out. I have been using the Cobalt Spec VR Spec C pads.
I have a brand new sealed set of Spec VR/Spec C pads that may be for sale if I like the Carbotech pads.
