race rubber and paint protection
Anyone out there had a problem with running race rubber and having it throw debris into your quarter panels? I've been running Solo II A stock on OEM tires but will be soon going to Hoosiers or Kumhos and want to insure I don't ruin my paint while racing.
Has anyone used products from xpel, stongard, or bulk 3M film to address this issue (if it is indeed an issue with race rubber)?
Thanks for your help.

Limited experience so far but I'm not getting chips or other damage from 9k+ road miles, not to mention autox on S02s and Kumhos. Unless yer driving through badly damaged pavement that has a lot of loose stone all the time, I wouldn't worry about it.
I *have* had a stone thrown up at me from another vehicle at 75-80 MPH that dug a nice chip out of the right front fender, on top. Sounded like a shot when it hit the windshield (no damage there, though)...

I have experienced paint damage to my S2000 from racing with Kumhos and Hoosiers. The stone chips have been in places that you would not expect- on and above the rocker panels, and on an area in front of the rear wheel wells. Gary Thomason had his car taped up last year at the warm-ups just before Nationals, to avoid damage to the paint. I copied him and did some taping as well- just putting tape on the areas most likely to recive stone chip damage. You can use clear, or try to match your paint color, although neither looks very good.
I also received "a lot" of damage (any damage seems like a lot on a beautiful car) inside the front wheel wells. There is a black plastic protective strip in the front wheel wells, but on my car, the strip is not wide enough to fully cover the paint on one wheel well. The paint in that area can be protected with black electrical tape.
