drifting is not racing, just like ice skating is not hockey.
.How about ... figure skating is not like speed skating?

by ice skating I meant figure skating

Here's my interpretation (before you posted this): "Wow, that's a pretty good comparison. Skating is one of many skills involved in hockey, but it is not the entirety of hockey. Similarly, drifting and car control are just one of the skills involved in racing."
After you made your post, my interpretation changed: "What a loser! Doesn't know the difference beteen 'figure' and 'ice' skating...."
Now you guys have made me think.
Many sports have parallels to drifting vs. racing. In addition to the figure/speed skating analogy, there is freestyle skiing vs. downhill, freestyle bicycling vs. BMX, and in the equestrian community there is dressage vs. racing at the track. So, perhaps it's about time for a sport judged on style to come to motorsports.
