Talking Ready to race!

Hello s2ki!

Three weeks ago I picked up my first S2000... Its a 2006 s2000 with 35k on the clock in very good condition. Never modded and driven by a 40-50 year old woman so the car has definitely been waiting to get abused =-)



On to the good stuff!

I installed some Skunk2 Pro C coilovers and Dunlop z1 then took my first shot at corner balancing myself with the help of Carl C. one of the planning guys for equide car club in south Florida. He offers rentals for the scales if anyone is interested pm me and i'll get you in contact with him.



Here are the results!




After I took the car to Zeca's Auto Repair in Pompano, Fl for a full alignment. Stenio did a great job and really took his time with symmetry. The only trouble we had was the rear toe. I read on here its suggested to stick with .05-.1 The current numbers I have are as close as possible.. Suggestions?

Front Camber -1.5
Caster 6.7
Front Toe 0

Rear Camber -2.5
Rear Toe .26 & .28


Any comments on the corner balance would be greatly appreciated... I tried my best to get things as close as possible, next month I'll spend even more time if you guys thing its necessary to really dial things to an absolute 50% all the way around. The car is mainly driven on the street (12-15k a year), 3-4 autox events a year and the occasional track day(once I'm comfortable with the RWD).




And just for fun! I stuff the airbag light back into the dash since its pretty useless and custom mounted my Valentine concealed display in its place. Not sure if this has been done before, but this is the cleanest location i could come up with that doesn't require any major hacking.




The wire is now tucked, that was a test fitment =-)

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to the plethora of info here, after months of reading I feel like I've learned so much and will soon be able to contribute myself!

I think you have too much rear toe. I would stick with the stock range.

Misterwaterfallin - I plan on doing auto x until im comfortable with the car then i'll move into road racing.


Robinson - Yes I thought the rear toe was a bit excessive but the guy said it wasn't possible to get it in range. Not 100% sure how to correct this; new end links? The car over 90/100 right now feels a little twitchy, will putting that into spec add stability? If not what adjustment needs to be done for higher speed driving?

Less rear toe will not make it more stable at speed. Will likely do the opposite.

should have left it stock for a while to get use to it auto crossing!! Car is great out of the box.

but thats just my 02

Mod bug hit me while I was shopping for the s2k.. I can't leave anything stock I own =-)

I can tell you the car at under 200whp is still a handful and I have plenty to learn with the rwd so I won't be jumping to a forced induction setup for quite a bit, if even ever... NA reliability can't be beat especially coming from awd turbo cars it'll be sweet spending my money on vacations than repairs haha

Like others have said, for the more "static" rear suspension geometry of the AP2, target no more than a total of 1/4" toe in. As all will testfiy here, many AP2's autoX'rs run much less, sometimes no rear toe on the AP2, though you'll probably want that toe in the back as an extra safety margin on the track or for "competitive driving," especially if you are a novice driver.

If you can not get less toe in than that, then you have an issue with your "adjustable" toe bolts, or have bent toe arms. I have never heard of an s2000 not being able to get less than 1/2 inch total toe in.
