Default Recaro Pole Position

Don't know if this has already been asked, but seeing as it's a popular seat, I was wondering if there are any FIA approved rails for the Recaro Pole Position? I know the Buddy Club ones are compatible but I'm not trusting my life with 8 tack welds.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not a big fan of Mugen & not sure if they are FIA approved, but their seat rails are great OEM quality. Not sure which year s2k you have, but the Mugen passenger rail will not bolt to an 06+.

Homemade. You can make, or have some made, that look pretty good and will be as sturdy as you want. If it's just you driving your car it shouldn't matter too much to have a fixed rail, and it's only 4 bolts to take it out if you need to.

Remember to use grade 8 bolts for the rails.

I'm partial to the PCI rail if you want something really sturdy. It's a very nice piece, but not adjustable. Try as I might, I wasn't able to get it to sit close enough for my short stubby legs, so I had to sell it.

Why do you need an FIA approved mounting? You can find FIA approved sidemounts from OMP, Recaro, etc. However, no rails are FIA approved. The seat must be solid mounted.

that is correct.

take a look at the rulebook associated with the series you are racing in. they may not even require fixed mounts.

I've tried every rail available for the S2000, Tiatec, Buddyclunk, Bride..... Have to say that the JDM Recaro rails for the S2000 are significantly better than the nearest competitor. They're much nicer than the OEM even. GoTuning is the U.S. source for them.

Pardon my ignorance - just using it as a benchmark for safety. If FIA requires a solid mount, how do you judge the quality of a rail? Those buddy club ones looked like absolute garbage.

On a similar note - does anyone know if the required seatbelt extender mechanism for the Recaro PP affects safety in any way? I believe the fabric seat's "seatbelt catchment hole" is not big enough to fit ours in.
