Anyone have a decent way of removing the electrical wiring that isnt needed in the process of stripping. Should I just start at free end and then start following back and removing the electrical tape and tubing as needed???
A few years back one of the guys pulled all the wiring and ended up neededing schematics and a whole lot of work to get it going as a race car. A real headache.
Probably best to pull the tape and covers and remove one wire at a time.
I wired my interior from scratch, it wasn't that bad. I will do the whole car eventually but to do it right is actually pretty expensive. If you don't want to remove the whole harness the way you described it is probably easiest.
PITA dont bother unless your going for a pro racing.
I think the amount of weight you save is not worth it.
take a shit and piss before you go out on track it would be about the same amount..
Or strip the whole car get a dash 2 and start over
I've been de pinning and removing each wire I determine won't be needed. Chassis harness is complete, have to do the engine harness now. Planning to use the Raychem DR25 to cover and protect everything, plus it will match the harness for the Motec ADL.
It isn't a huge weight savings but it adds up, and the less crap there is the cleaner it looks and the easier it is to trouble shoot.
Not worth it for me, we spent over 50 hrs on taking out wires that we don't need on our 240sx, total weight about 10 lbs, and keep in mine that s2000 has much less wires dont need than nissan.
