Default Repaired tire... Is it safe?

I had a nail puncture in a BFG-KD rear tire and repaired it with one of those DIY kits with the cord-plug (tire never deflated until I removed the nail with the wheel off the car, so was never deflated, not even low pressure, while on the car). Would this tire still be okay for use on the track? I am assuming that the KD being a street tire has a sturdier construction than pure track tires, and even if the plug fails, the tire would deflate over some time and not abruptly disintegrate. Any thoughts or advice?

Most groups I've driven with have specifically not allowed tires that were plugged to pass tech. A distinction is made between a tire that is plugged and one that is patched from the inside professionally.

In fact, I'm going to the track tomorrow with a tire that has been patched. But I wouldn't track a tire that was plugged.

So is a plugged tire even good for the street for trips etc., or just as a temporary emergency fix? I had just put those wheels on the car thinking I would at least drive to and from BW on them (so would have the rims as backups in case the track rims get damaged or someone wants to rent them ).

I would have no problem driving them on the street but not at the track.

plug, patched, etc, etc. I've run them all and its been fine. Just so long as its not in the sidewall.

I don't have any problem on the track or street.

I agree with Lude, plugged is fine for the street but not for the track. You don'y put as much heat or stress into it on the street, and you shouldn't be in situations where you are right on the limit of your handling capabilities.

Plugged no, patched yes. Hey, it's your life, you can do what you want.
