Review of KW Variant 3

Just for reference, David Karner's race car is using KWs as well, with much heavier springs of course, and owns several class lap records, so they are quite track suitable.

with my Gendron front bar I thought the balance was perfect. No understeer, no oversteer, just a very predictable car that did exactly what I wanted to do.
I am kinda bummed the car is for sale...

kit: are the KWs a monotube or twintube? Also, gofastlab describes the V3 as having low-speed rebound adjustments (so high-speed is set). Is this true for the compression also? Thanks.
that is really all you want to change, highspeed adjustments make it REALLY easy to make the car REALLY unstable over bumps. Been there, done that.
Kit: thanks for the info. I'd like to see a shock dyno of these to see how digressive the curves are and how much high-speed bump and rebound change with the low-speed adjustments. I know what you mean about stiff high-speed valving.
Did you have these on the track for an extended period? Was there any consistency issues (since it's a twintube, the oil has direct contact w/ the gas)...any feeling of heat buildup, foaming, cavitation?
Thanks.

I did 4 30 minute sessions, about 90 track miles on them over the day. They did awesome. I was worried about that, too, but I certainly didn't have any issues with them going away at the end of the session.
the limiting factor was me! I was getting tired so I'd pull off, after 30 minutes.
but really, for anyone who isn't competing, but runs group 4 or the advanced group at any events, these should be a hot setup.

Thanks kit, sounds like a sweet setup! JRZ's and Moton's price increases have all but thrown those options out the window. I was waiting for a Tein damper to come out that has independent compression and rebound adjustments (and should be in the $2k range), but judging by some shock dynos I've seen of other JDM brands, the damping is likely very linear which'll make street use a PITA, literally.
Edit: just took a look at the shock dynos on KW USA's site. It seems rebound adjustments affect all piston speeds and is very linear while compression adjustments only affect low-speed. They don't look overly stiffly valved, which is nice. I like the compression curves...looks like a good setup for a street/HPDE car. It doesn't seem like it can handle very high spring rates.
