Default Road Course Tire Recommendations?

I currently have a set of Hoosier Autocross tires (225/245) on a second set of OEM wheels, and am in the process of obtaining a third set of OEM wheels for mounting a set of dedicated Road Course tires to use in the Northeast. I will only be doing HPDE, not wheel to wheel competiton.

My first thought was to go with the Hoosier Road Racing tires as they would be the same widths as my Autocross tires -- thus obviating any need to change my anti-sway bar setting.

Anyone have any other recommendations for Road Courses?

Kind Regards, Chris

A lot of us out west run Toyo RA-1's. They last pretty well (7-8 track days), are pretty sticky, and heat up quickly. A well rounded tire for HPDE type events.

Yep, the RA-1's seem to tbe the most popular tire for stock rims out here for all the reasons Aaron mentioned.

I will be using RA-1s in the Northeast this summer. They just arrived yesterday! Going to Limerock in March for this year's first event.

Regards

I also recommend Toyo R-A1's for use on road courses.

Sounds like a good rec!

What sizes on OEM rims? 225/245?

Thanks, and Kind Regards, Chris

PS: Will also be at Lime Rock at the end of March -- with SCDA and BMW CCA...

245 in the rear

205 in the front with stock swaybar or 225 with aftermarket swaybar.
