Rotors

(ps. They don't tend to crack all the way through on track. It happens in the pits, as they are cooling.)
If you're tracking a car (as opposed to racing one; or racing slowly, I suppose), and you use pads that are hard on rotors (such as Hawk Blues), you could wear the rear rotors to below specified minimum thickness before they crack.

I have also seen rotors crack all the way through during a race, "explode", and then destroy the caliper and the wheel.

I replace mine when they develop "too many" check marks.
I did not say I replace them after they crack!

In a perfect world, and the most popular case yes, but in my years I have seen rotors terminally
fail on track, jaming up into the caliper, or breaking pads that get jammed into the caliper, thus locking up a wheel, sending the car off track for a bit of farming.

Ever seen it on an S2000?

So you think if I have never seen it happen on an S2000 then it never will.
Unbelievable...

The Brooklyn Bridge doesn't have the same maintenance issues as the Golden Gate Bridge, even though both are suspension bridges.
I take it from your responses that the answer is "no", you have never seen such a failure on an S2000?

And nope, never seen it happen on a S2000 and I hope it never does because someone didn't replace a $40 rotor.
