I wouldn't worry about it @ stock height. Front I would though, even @ stock height, it's not worth the risk. If you make contact in the front, and you're not rolled, your fenders will look like shit.

I think I might understand where this confusion is coming from. On stock ride height, on OEM suspension, on 245/40R17 street tire, on typical track days, you just won't corner hard enough to get the wheel to make contact with the fender. I have a feeling that the RPF-1 with 245/40R17 might be just fine at most tracks, but if you happen to go to a bumpy track with banked turns and high grip like WSIR or SOWS, you will see enough G's to force the tires to make contact with the fender. For daily driving and canyon driving, you will be just fine, as Si said, but I am willing to bet that Si's fender disaster happened at either WSIR or SOWS, and not Buttonwillow or ACS. But then again, Si is a mad man

Again, to be safe, I'd go with the fender roll (and maybe a mild flare) with rear bumper tab relocation. Just don't risk the fenders... or go with something with more offset.

Another way to put this: go and look at your setup in the front. You most likely have 215/45R17 tires on 17x7 +55 wheels. RE050 215/45R17 has a section width of 8.3". RE11 245/40R17 has a section width of 9.6". That means even if you kept the same offset, the outer edge of your tire will be 0.65" closer to the fender. On a +45 offset wheel, that would now be 1.0437" closer. This would be the equivalent to running a 26mm spacer on your front OEM wheel with OEM tire. Do you think you can run a 26mm spacer in the front and not rub? (For a 255/40R17, section width is 10.2", so you would be 0.2" wider, making it 1.2437" closer, or the equivalent of running 31.6mm spacer.) I take one look at my own DD setup and say no way. I definitely wouldn't risk leaving the fenders alone.

No No

What is funny - is the OP creating 8 other threads in the past 2 weeks about AS autox mods and other ridiculously stupid questions. NOW he decides to start off on another tangent with more easily searchable/answered crap

FYI, Ed (600RR_Rocket) ran the RPF-1 17x9 +45 all around with 255/40R17 all around, and he mangled his front fender. He was lowered, I believe... Ed?
I have RPF1's 17x9 +45 all around with 255/40R17. (Check my sig picture). Had to roll front and rear fenders. No mangling though?

I can get the Matte Black RPF1's (17x9 +45 all around) for you brand new for $900. I'm in Nashville, TN. They are on backorder until October though. Let me know if you are interested.

It isn't really the width of the wheel that will determine if you will rub, but rather the offset and the tire width. If you want to play it safe and don't want to touch your fenders, I would recommend sticking with +65 offset or thereabouts.

The lower the offset number, the further it sticks out from the car. The wider the tire, the further it sticks out from the car. It is the tire that will make contact with your fender, and that is why offset and tire width are the two main variables whether or not you will rub.

Hey, Josh7Owens, you should just get your fenders rolled and the rear bumper tab relocated, so if you do decide to get coilovers in the future you won't have to worry about it. Running nonstaggered is definitely the way to go imo, but you have to set up your suspension to account in for the extra front grip. My car was completely transformed when I went this route, and I was able to shave off significant time off my laps.
