Default Rules advice needed

Dear All,
i need advise in X-cross competition rules.
this is not strictly S2000 but strictly X-cros and you're the best one to ask - so please bear with me.

in our local "Roadster" club we want to org x-cross "mini-league".
since amount of people wanting to compete is too small to fill complete "one type of car" competition - we have to mix various cars (think Z4M, various Miatas, S2000's, M3's, etc).
different owners have different mods and tires - with big variety.

so i thought to get all of us together (20 people maybe at max) and use points system similar to "S2K Challenge Series" (which is really fantastic and makes a lot of sense).

my main question is what kind of time penalty shall we give based on those points?

differences for example might be Toyo R1R as opposed to similar car with Bridgestone RE050 or two same cars one with stock suspension and the other with coilovers and sway bars.

the track would be 40-50 secs mostly second gear (some 1st gear) gymkhana.

Many thx in advance and will really appreciate any usefull input !!!!
Gennady

Rather than trying to reinvent something with complicated rules, I'd suggest doing something on the order of how our chapter (FLR SCCA) does it. We have a Road Tire class where everyone is welcome. You car is still classed normally based on mods other than tires. Tires must have a wear rating of 140. PAX indexing is then used to equalize the different classes. Straightforward, relatively easy to understand and not prone to favoritism.

Just watch out for the thundering hooves of cars in H Stock...

the simpler the better.
the problem is that tires alone create big difference - both R1R and RE050 are fits 140 tdw limit but performance difference is big.

The other thing you could consider is to have a handicap system where the previous winners and trophy positions get "time ballast" added for the next event. That keeps everyone "in the hunt" each week.

It works if it's just a group of friends having fun and the driving hierarchy is fairly established. People know who's a good driver and coming in second (or winning by seconds) all the time gets old. It's like a "driver PAX" that gets adjusted each week.

we thougth about this very handicap thing but based mods.

but let's see in your model how much time you would add?
i think the way of calculation is what we try to understand.

on a second thougt your idea as a whole is very goood and can be a good alternative to what we were thinking...

It may just be easiest to use SCCA classing and the pax index. While not perfect, it is already made, and is known to be pretty decent.

For that small of a group I would not worry about what mods people have. Just no R-comps and put them in 3 classes based on eng. size.

If you really want to balance out the cars, I agree with just using SCCA classing and PAX,
