Default Running a completely Stock AP2 - B Stock OR STR?

I'm just starting out with my S2000, moved to this car from an RSX type-S running in STS. I don't have plans to modify this car (*much*) and I have no real desire to buy a trailor/hitch...

The RSX was so nice in that you could just pile in your second set of wheels/tires and all of your tools in the back of it, but that's a different topic.

Anyway, I'm debating the pros/cons of running in B Stock or running in STR. On one hand, my requirement for street tires really puts me at a disadvantage in B Stock and on the other hand, I'm at a disadvantage in STR for my unwillingness to modify this car (*much*).

I'm leaning towards STR because in my opinion, tires make the biggest difference in autocross times... suggestions???

Thanks!

STR.

Although you're kind of in a warm area, you might get away with a non-slick "R-compound" like a Nitto NT01 or Michelin Pilot Sport Cup. You could drive to the event on them (they're OEM on a number of "sports cars").

Does your region have a street tire class? BS street tire sounds like what you are looking for.

Im gonna agree with the crowd and say STR... make your only mods some wheels and a front sway bar and you have a fun little local STR car that you wont have to change out stuff for autox, but if you decide to do BS later, you can put R-comps on the Stock wheels and not have to change anything else.

I understand that. The OP said he didn't want to mod the car. In our local region we have an indexed street tire class that a stock car can compete in.

actually it's my bad... sorry about that, I think I deleted something from that reply. I meant to say STR is the only street tire class in my (several) SCCA clubs.

Thanks for all the replies. I'll be running in STR for now. First autocross on my schedule is this coming Sunday but it's with a NASA club so classing is a bit different.
