Default S2000 Race Series

I know S2K's run in SCCA club racing at the T2 level. I think there's an IT class also...SS too. Question is: What are options other than SCCA for racing an S2K?

i see you are on the east coast (sort of).

there is 1 S2000 that runs in this.... (used to be two)

Honda Challenge with NASA

unfort, it is about $1k per weekend with tires, brakes, fees, travel, etc.... assuming you don't wreck or break anything.

thanks for the link..$1K seems very reasonable actually..it's an expensive hobby but worth it. I might be looking more into this...SCCA T2 is a very broad class but it seems the S isn't too competitive...am I right?

i don't think the S2000 is very competitive in t2 either. They just moved Evo's and STI's into that class. I thought there was some talk about a T3 and the S2000's place there.????

I think at the runoff's at Mid Ohio last year there was one King Motorsports S2000 that started like 25th or something like that.....

Honda challenge is pretty fun.... kind of sucks for me to pay $1k for what boils down to about 2 hours of track time.....but racing costs $$$$

how does the S do in Honda Challenge? what are the extents of mods?? how do they go about licensing? I spend more time in WV than NH but the tracks I'm reasonably close to are MidOhio, BeaveRun, Summit Point...then in NH there's Lime Rock, NHIS, and I guess the Glen.

lots of questions just because I'm very interested

last year i did pretty well and finished 2nd in points..... this year they bumped the S2000 up 50lbs to 2650 with driver after the race.

2-3 guys this year have stepped up their engine building so it has been tougher this year.......plus they are running new tires every weekend too, which I am too cheap to do....not that it would guarantee me anything...

the rules are on that website....much easier for you to read them than me try to tell ya.

I have the lap record at summit point and at the shenadoah course and was .05 off of the lap record at VIR....so for a single lap the S2000 is definately competetive, even on shitty used Tein RA's.

we go to Beaverun in about 3 weeks, so I am hoping for 2 wins there, but we'll see. The hybrids generally have as much or more hp as me but only weigh 2200 or 2350lbs.... but I can make up huge ground in braking.... but they have the advantage of being able to block me and force me outside....

You are allowed one blocking move per turn, straight...so i cannot just weave down the straight to block...... it is fun even if I haven't won as much as I think I should have this year!

Scot..good luck for the season..I'm going to attempt to come up and check you guys out at Beaverun..it's about 70 miles from me. Hopefully we can chat up there without me bugging you too much. I'm part of an SCCA SRF and GT1 crew for Trevor and Bill Hopwood. They used to be out of steel cities but they're new england now..trevor's well on his way to winning the runoffs in their Rocketsports Vette. They're also very competitive in their Motion Dynamics spec racer.

I love being around the track so I'm going to do my best to be competing ASAP.

thanks for the info

If you have any T2 race questions, just look for my old post or send me an email.

Yes, it's not a front runner in T2 but we are lobbying pretty hard to get it into T3. If that happens it will be a front runner. Keep your fingers crossed.
