S2000 Racers-accelerate as fast as hybrids?
The rules -
B series cars - 2200lbs with driver (wheel hp well over 200)( 5 speeds) (fwd)
K seriers cars - 2350 with driver (wheel hp well over 200) (6 speeds) (fwd)
S2000 - 2650 with driver (~ 210 wheel hp) (6 speeds) (rwd)
I have the lap records at SUMMIT, VIR (set on saturday, but got beat on sunday.
and at Shenadoah, so my car is obviously competetive if it was a time trial.......but it ain't....
I lose the drag races down the straights then I attempt to out brake everyone.... as time has gone on though they are getting smarter and take the inside line to and most tracks are tight or have double apex and the outside line just doesn't work....or when we get back on the throttle even up in a turn they just drive away from me again...
Any west coast guys able to keep up with the hybrids in pure acceleration?

Scot-
If you look at raw HP/Weight ratios, you are clearly on the short end of the stick. That will account for a large amount of the delta in acceleration. Additionally, several of the Hybrids run some pretty radical final drives.
You quoted S2000s at 210 RWHP. Is that where you are? Since straight-line acceleration is analogous to drag racing, you also have to look at what kind of torque numbers you are making - how much area there is under the curve, etc.
There are some other changes you can make to your car to get some more power/better acceleration, but they will cost some money.
And, ask Corey what removing the wing on his car did for his laptimes. You may want to try removing it at some tracks - perhaps the drag of that badboy is hurting you.

It is funny that the rules make the lap times very very similar, but i make up tons of ground under braking......but...it makes it so damned hard to pass,
The wing rocks!!!! Downforce for the turns.....
I still only did 193 on JE's dyno, but i assume that is 210 or so on a regular dynojet.

thats a great question and i am curious as well.
time for a new finaldrive, some engine mods or both?

I thought J's made a 5.1 for the S2000...???
that would help.... but that is $1k installed... and I am cheap.... but losing and pissed about it....

What I did? I identified where I was faster, becasue I could corner a lot faster than them and back off and get a run on them. I could exit some corners as much as 10 mph faster than then which gave me the abilty to beat them (or alteast get along side so they couldn't block) to the next one. -also- being that they are FWD their front tires tend to give up for the latter parts of the race. Sometimes it pays to just sit on their bumper and make them push really hard in the corners. Wait for them to push wide (or off) at a corner and pounce on the opporunity.
Thats how I've done it.

Most of the WC guys have built motors, but me from my last race? There was no way I could out drag them. I'm stock motor too.

I did better last year against more people........ cornering wise I seem to be about even if we both have new tires.... i actually got beat through the corasell (i can't spell) at summit point by a good bit by both FWD cars (probably due to their lightness and new tires vs my old tires) every lap 2 weeks ago.... i only hung with them due to braking....
I am only running 225's in the front and 245's in the rear....... i can't find anything wider with the same rolling #'s.... the 275's that yellow streek is using are about 1" taller (i think) which would hurt my acceleration......
blaaaaaaa.......o ya... i don't have the adjusable ball joints either, so i am maxed out at -2.1 camber in the front.

yeah wow, you're on tiny tires. thats why you can't kill them in the corners.
You really should get 17s or 18s. (I'd recommend the 18s). I run a 245/275 RA1.
I wouldn't worry so much about the 5% loss of running the bigger tires, but get bigger wheels asap. The CCW's are still about $2k shipped. And if the gearing is that big of a concern then put some 4.3's in the diff and you'll be back to stock. ( I run 4.44s)

if i got taller tires, i would exagerate the problem even more.......
Are W-I-D-E Toyo RA1's better than skinnier hoosiers? No one runs RA1's out here... we don't have a "spec" tire, so it is a free for all.... which means $$$$$...
I would love a spec tire!!!!
