Default S2000s at the SCCA Runoffs

Don't know if anyone's paying attention, but S2000s have done pretty well in T3 qualifying -- an S2000 driver's on pole, and five other S2000 drivers are in the top ten qualifiers, including Ian Stewart (Mrsideways on S2KI) in ninth. John Costello (jcmotorsports on S2KI) qualified fifteenth.

Good luck to all involved!

Rob Hines is qualified on the pole for tomorrows race. Ian is in 9th and John in 15th. I am proud to say that I built both Rob and Ian's cars and have been prepping John's for the last year and a half. RaceLabz also has a Civic in SSC qualified 2nd with my brother Joel driving. He has a great chance at bring home a third Run-Offs victory. If things go well, we might have 2 2008 National Championships for our shop.

John C has had nothing but trouble all week out in Kansas. Something went in the braking system and it took them until today to get all of the pieces/parts to replace the entire braking system. I wish I was out there helping, but I'm in the finishing stages of another T3 S2000 for a customer from Atlanta and he is picking it up on saturday. Business first................

Rob is flyin. Jon has had nothing but problems since the moment we got here. We had a E-throttle gremlin we thought we had solved come back to haunt us sunday and monday. I only got 2 laps over the 1st 2 days. We replaced the engine wiring harness tuesday and missed the 2nd qualifying session. However so far so good. This problem has gone away before for a few days/weeks so I'm not confident it's fixed yet. We switched to motons and finally got a session to start making adjustments. My main concern is just hoping the car will stay running for the race. I hope Jon gets his brakes sorted. He's looking pretty down. Should be fun!

Well I got the boot on the 1st lap in turn 12. I checked up a bit to avoid the guy in front and the person behind me didn't have anywhere to go but into me. It's racing and the field was so packed in on the 1st lap that was pretty much that. Fell to 15th and fought back to 10th. 2nd place got DQ'd so 9th. Couple Video's down below....
1st lap Wreck
Coming back through the field < Jon (JCMOTORSPORTS) was the white S2000 at the end of the video. His tires went off bad on him
Video from turn 8 and 9

Enjoy!

Awesome driving Ian, pity you didn't have more time to get the car sorted and wow that 1st lap was serious mayhem.

T3 was a great race. I was surprised to see a few CR's, I didn't know they were classed in T3. Here are some pics from T8-T9.

Ian,

Great drive! I watched the videos and you drove the wheels off that thing. I guess that the wiring harness swap fixed our woes.

JC's motor was fresh and it made good power as evidenced by the videos but you caught him under braking and in the corners. You guys had a great battle. RaceLabz had 3 cars in the top 10, not too bad for our first year. You guys made a great showing. Now next year, if I can only get John and my brother to trust my car set-up and not go out there and start changing stuff!!!!!

Later,

Dan
