hi all, picked up a set of 18x9.5" rims, still debating on tire size. but i'm leaning 245/40/18, which means it will be slightly strectched.

the car is only driven on weekends, mostly around town, may be 2 - 3 track events each year.

so it if safe to track with this rim + tire combo?

Not only is it safe, it will feel better and most likely be faster than the same tire on a more narrow wheel

 

That's not a stretch; it's safe. Check the manufacturer specs on 245 tires; they're meant for 8-9.5" rims.

 

245mm is 9.6". Not a stretch at all.

I think you have the ideal tire size for that wheel imo.

235 on a 9. 245 on a 9.5. 255 on a 10. Etc

 

how many times have you tracked your car? is 2-3 based on actual history or postulating?

just curious, why dose OEM spec have 245/40/17 on a 8.5" rim then?

And on a CR OEM spec is a 255 on an 8.5"....
