SCCA SSM S2000 build
As some of you guys know, I used to have a supercharged SSM S2000 that we ran casually for a while. We went to turbo and the build had some teething pains. We've been through a number of shops with a number of failures, most recently with the car sitting in California for a year at Asura (Aashish's) shop stalled at the transmission step.
Was close to giving up on the build, when I heard more and more good things about LJ at Full Blown Motorsports. His shop is only a dozen miles away from where we live.

Within two days of having the car shipped back from California, LJ successfully troubleshot and got the car running. He's a man of his word and the customer service and communication is fantastic. Highly, highly recommend him for custom work.
The original problem with the Quaife was that it was clocked three degrees so the shifter was oriented off to the side. Andrew W's solution was custom mounting position for the engine, but that would take a lot of re-fab of turbo piping, etc. Asura's proposed solution was extremely complicated and ultimately not feasible (required opening of the transmission and machining of the hardened shafts).
LJ's solution was much more elegant. He had a new adaptor plate manufactured that "clocked back" the tranny relative to the engine. Brilliant!
So the build is back on track and hopefully will be running for this year, at least locally.
Here are some interesting comparisions:
Erik Strelniek's multi-National winning SSM RX7 weighed 2837 without driver. Wearing 315/30/18s on 18x11 wheels. He has a GT40R turbo making ~600 hp.
Our car will be about that weight (without weight reducing measures). Wearing 315/30/18s on 18x11 wheels. Fully built engine and a smaller turbo than that. And a Quaife sequential manual transmission if things go well.
I think it could be a fun car and very similar to a proven formula. Too bad I'm not nearly as good of a driver.

More updates, specs and pictures as I get time. But I wanted to give credit to LJ without delay. Full Blown is more than just a tuner shop. They're a race shop.
I've been to four local shops (including Full Blown) and one in California and Full Blown is the most effective shop I have been to. They have an extremely high level of expertise and their prices are excellent.

Ckit can you talk to him about the harness he has make that is suppose to work with the ap1 and haltech PS1000 ecu. He said in PM the other day that he has a harness that works and is a piggyback to the stock ecu. I was iffy to take his word on it because of what evans has been saying. Since your "close" to him maybe you can find out the details for us.
Good luck on the build! I can't wait to see video. Would a SSM S2000 be faster then Jasons s2k?

1. I'd believe what LJ said. Just make sure to clarify the STR ruleset for your application. Our SSM car is an AP1 and he did use a Haltech to troubleshoot the engine, though. Don't know if it's a piggyback or standalone.
2. When you say "Jason's" car, do you mean Jason Collett's XP car or Jason Uyeda's former BSP car that's now SSM (West coast)? It won't be faster than an XP car (nor am I on the same page as Collett as a driver). But it's a car that has AC, radio, working soft top and full interior (ruleset for Super STREET Modified). Pax is similar to the Frankenstook FP car. Don't know what the specs are on Uyeda's car (also SSM), but would imagine similar to that. He had his car registered for a few National events, but wound up driving something else at the last minute. I think he has a Ford rear and a Jerico tranny, if I've heard right.
When referring to the name Jason theirs only one person worthy of referring to without using his last name and that's Jason Collett.
Since you gave such a good review I'll look more into his harness. If it works I'm gonna be ecstatic

SSM doesn't let you gut anything. Have to run full interior and cages can't be welded in. I think it'd be really hard to get that light.
