SCCA T2 update
Updates from the August FasTrack:
- alternate aftermarket final drive request was denied - "The change does not fit the philosophy of the class on non-OEM internal parts."
- Comptech differential reinforcement is now "allowed"
In case you missed it last month, my request to allow the 04 wheels size on the 00-03 cars was approved.
Next request I will submit is to allow the 04 transmission secondary gear reduction ratio (~4%) on the earlier cars. If you have other ideas, please let me know.
In another interesting note the CompBorard asked for input on a proposed T3 class (currently there is only T1 & T2):
"T3
Item 1. In the strategic plan class structure
review process, the Club Racing Board
noted that there is a significant performance
gap between the cars classified in T2
and SSB. In the automotive market today
there are numerous popular cars that have
performance potentials too great for SSB
yet cannot be given sufficient performance
enhancements within the structure of the
Touring rules to be competitive in T2. The
Club Racing Board is seeking input on
whether there would be sufficient interest
from our membership to create a third
Touring class called T3. Some of the cars
that could be classified in T3 are the Acura
TSX, Audi 3.2L TT Coupe, Volkswagen
R32, Mazda RX8 base model, Infiniti G35
Coupe, Honda Accord V6, Mazdaspeed
Miata, MINI Cooper S Works Edition, BMW
325i/Ci, Lexus IS300, Nissan Altima V6,
Saturn Ion Redline, Chevrolet Cobalt SS,
Pontiac Solstice, Cadillac CTS V6, Volvo
S60, etc."
I would be in support of T3 if the S2000 and some of the other not so competitive T2 cars were moved to this new class along with the new currently unclassified cars. If you agree and are a SCCA member, write the comp board with your thoughts.
