Default sc'ed vs stock out on the tracks

is there already a thread that discusses this? if there is can someone show me the way. if not, can you guys give your opinoins on this

right now im running a stock vortech system, pondering the idea of racing the car on the weekends and daily drive here and there.

should i keep the vortech or go back to n/a with basic, i/h/e
aem ems with n/a waste of money?

if i keep the vortech, i will end up getting an aem ems with upgraded pulley and the works, but i guess the power isnt really usable?

my car will have a coilover setup and probably a kaaz 1.5 way and maybe gears
not really sure if i need the gears, full interoir and oem hardtop

if 2 good drivers were on the same track, 1 stock and 1 sc'ed
who would win?

if i sell the sc, the money will go back into the car, if i keep it, its just less money i get to spend on the car

any thoughts?

thanks

If both drivers were equal, the chassis's were set up the same, the tires were identical with the same amount of wear, the brakes were the same, the supercharged S would have an advantage because both cars would have the same braking and cornering capabilities, but the sc'ed car would have greater acceration as well as a higher top speed on a given straight away.

so adding the weight of the sc'er to the front throwing off the f/r weight doesnt do anything? i thought it wouldve affected the handling or something

I don't honestly know how much a sc weighs, but I don't think it is enough to affect handling in a very adverse way. At least not in a way that the added power won't compensate for. You probably could not even tell the difference in handling.

A sc'ed car will have an advantage over a non sc'ed car at the track.

On the flip side, a SC'ed S2000 with a low grade coilover setup will probably not fair as well as a NA S2000 with very well setup Moton or JRZ suspension.

Good Luck with what ever you decide.

Just make sure you have it tuned well if you decide to stay SC. My one Vortech track experiece was from following another S2000 that had one. He didn't pull on me in the straights at all. From what I understand, things got way too hot in the engine bay and the ECU ended up dumping a ton of extra fuel that, while it protected the engine, it totally killed any extra power. Ever since then I've been doubtful the air/water intercooler was up to the task of track work, but that's only from a sample of one. YMMV.
