Default Which Schroth Belt?

I am having a cage made for the S2000. I am a bit confused about the different belts available. One works with the Hans, but does it require the Hans, or can I add the Hans later? Width of the belts? Etc. What do some of you out there use?

Do I need a welder to put backing plates on the added mounting points, or just use large washers? Etc.

Thanks much!

I was looking at those too. They have way too many of them.

I think you can use the 'non-hans' belts with the hans later, but if you use hans specific, you have to use the hans device.

If you can, have Gary weld the plates, but you can use washers too. That's what I did.

How is it going over there? Is he taking care of you?

I think the HANS-specific belts have narrower shoulder straps. This apparently helps them to stay over the top of the HANS instead of slipping off. But if used without the HANS, they would distribute the load to a smaller area of your body, thus increasing the potential damage the belts can do to you. (Still better to use them than to not use them, of course).

Thanks for the answer, guys.

Dave, the car is at Steen's now. It will be close whether or not it will be ready for Infineon.

Btw, how do you handle the airbag warning lights?

Thanks!

SCCA, don't know about NASA, does not allow you to use the HANS belts without a HANS. And yes, they do resist slipping off versus the 3" shoulder straps.

HMS, the US distributor, will sell you just the shoulder belts if you want to switch later.

The new version of the HANS has a lateral lip molded in that is supposed to prevent slip, but i've been told some complain that a 3in belt tends to bind on the lip, so u may need to get the hans specific shoulder belts with newer hans.

I would call the folks at HMS, they are very helpful and know the product very well.
