Default Science of Speed Rotors - Durable?

Hi Guys - I read up on the SOS rotors and their own testing. Results looked good but I was wondering how many days these have lasted for you guys? How many track days can I realistically expect out of these?

Thanks in advance,

John

While I can't answer your questions from experience, I would say it all depends on how hard you drive the car and if you have cooling ducts or not. I have really considered jsut getting a set of OEM rotors and having them cryo treated if I could find a good affordable place to do it. From what I understand the rotors last an insane amount of time if cryo treated.

I was able to get 14-18 sessions before they started cracking from the J hooks towards the hub.

I really like the design but I'm not a fan of the J hooks or the price.

XR2's were used for four of the sessions and XR3's for the rest.

Thanks for the input guys.

I previously had some powerslot Cryo treated rotors - Cracked after 6 track days so I'm not sure how effective it really is.

For the price of the SOS, I thought they would've lasted longer than 14-18 sessions. I guess the search goes on or I just man up and install ducting.

From what I understand, the powerslot cryo treated rotors are not treated nearly as indepth as what another company can do. I heave heard it's jsut a quick treatment. Where others I have heard will do a really long process on your rotors when you send them in.

I want to say it's around $100 but don't quote me on that. I am sure someone here can help us out with actual pricing. I have however seen that some guys have tracked for a year with no cracks in rotors are done right.

100 for all 4 is reasonable in my mind - I'd be interested.

All depends on how much you can benefit from it. Chances are it would be better to spend the money on a pair or rotors with a better metallurgy than to cyro treat cheaper rotors.
