Default Setup Questions

Hi all,

I have been autocrossing recently on asphalt and I have some setup questions...

Current setup:

KW Variant 3 coilovers
Falken RT615 tires 215 F 255R
0 toe front
1/8 toe rear
-1.5 camber front
-2.0 camber rear
Stock bars

My car seems very loose. Slaloms require complete concentration and if you screw up, the car will snap oversteer... The car just doesn't seem very well planted.

I was wondering what the effects would be of removing the rear anti-sway bar and adding a wider front tire perhaps 235?

I was also wondering the effects of adding a stiffer front bar such as the Comptech/Gendron or Saner and a Wider front tire again guessing around 235. Would there be any noticeable difference in corner entries and exits if I were run less rebound in the front of the vehicle while having more in the rear? I really need to settle this car down. As corner entries and exits can become a bit greasy. By the way, standard autox rules regarding the rear anti-sway bar modificatuins are irrelevant.

I appreciate your help!

Get yourself on the waiting list for a Comptech bar and then see how she does. It will still be a hair loose but a whole lot better. I, personally, have come to the conclusion that the AP1 is just going to be somewhat loose and you the driver will have to work with it.

I don't mind mild looseness but this car can really nip you in the butt if you are not careful. The car just isn't very forgiving.

Are there any issues with removing the rear swaybar?

Any idea as to how long the wait will be for the Comptech bar?

Check your rear toe. Add a bit more. I run 225/245 and have no oversteer at all.

You don't specify if the rear toe is positive or negative. I would try more toe in. 2 degrees of rear camber does not sound like much either. I would try to get closer to 2.5, if not even 3 degrees negative.

what everyone else said and a gendron or comptech comp front sway. Then all your looseness will go away and you can start increasing your front tire width.

But deff. check your rear toe and front caster

Oh... Front caster is around 6.45 I think and 1/8 was toe in of course. I believe that I am maxed on my -camber in the rear. I suppose if I lower the car, I can get a bit of extra camber and toe. Right now I have about a between 3/4- 1" gap. DOes it sound right that I am maxed out on my camber and toe?

Do you guys also recommend a corner balance or is it not worth the $$?

I appreciate all of the input.

Do you guys believe that coilover adjustments will make a noticeable difference in my entry and exit looseness?

You should be able to get more camber than that. How much lower than stock are you?
And thats another thing, what are your KWs set at? That makes a huge difference too

My drop is about an inch and a half. The bump is at .5 at all four corners. I then set the fronts to full stiff and the rears were at -1.5.

Here are some pics of the drop

car looks nice.
you should deffinatly be able to get more camber.

and your giving your shock settings from full stiff, right?

You should really try less aggressive settings. Try -1 up front top, keep the rear top at 1.5 and see how she handles.
and maybe bring the bottom settings to -.75

I think youll find alot of improvement from just doing that
